Services in detail

  • Thomas Hanna Somatics is a holistic approach to resolving chronic pain and mobility issues by addressing the root causes of muscular tension and imbalances. Developed by the late Dr. Thomas Hanna, this practice recognizes that the body can learn to hold onto patterns of stress and trauma, leading to chronic pain and restricted movement. Unlike traditional approaches, Hanna Somatics focuses on re-educating the nervous system to release these habitual muscular contractions through mindful movement and awareness.

In a Thomas Hanna Somatics session, individuals engage in a series of gentle and intentional movements, known as pandiculations, which involve the contraction and subsequent release of specific muscles. These movements are designed to reset the neuromuscular system, allowing muscles to return to their natural resting length and relieving chronic tension. By cultivating awareness of how the body moves and feels, individuals gain a profound understanding of their unique patterns and can actively participate in their own healing process.

The benefits of Thomas Hanna Somatics extend beyond pain relief, encompassing improved mobility, enhanced posture, and a greater overall sense of well-being. As individuals practice somatic exercises regularly, they not only alleviate existing pain and discomfort but also prevent the recurrence of chronic issues. Through this holistic approach, Thomas Hanna Somatics empowers individuals to take control of their own physical and emotional health, fostering a harmonious relationship between the body and mind.

  • Yoga Therapy offers a multitude of approaches for practice. Pneuma Yoga Therapy focuses on Somatic Bodywork, a hands-on method for somatic movements, which forms the core of this therapy. Somatic Bodywork encompasses diverse techniques aimed at enhancing the connection between the mind and body. The goal is to relieve physical and emotional pain and remove blockages. By increasing awareness of movement in areas of chronic tension, the body can release stress and trauma, leading to reduced pain, improved mobility, better posture, and an overall sense of well-being.

Another key aspect is breath retraining, which plays a vital role in functional movement, a healthy nervous system, and the mind-body connection. The breath acts as a bridge between the autonomic nervous system and conscious awareness, impacting various physiological functions. Through deliberate breathwork, individuals can regulate the autonomic nervous system, fostering a balance between the sympathetic (fight-or-flight) and parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) branches. This balance enhances overall stress resilience and optimizes muscle function and joint mobility for functional movement.

Recognizing your body and breath as powerful tools contributes to maintaining a healthy and vibrant body. Whether you are dealing with chronic pain, stress, or seeking a deeper connection with your body, somatic bodywork is a transformative method for healing and self-discovery.

  • Breathing has such a tremendous influence on our overall health and it is a real tragedy that there is not more being done to educate the public how to breath. Breathing, at the most fundamental layer is how you stay healthy and happy! Here are some reasons to improve your breathing.

Stress Reduction: Mindful diaphragmatic nose breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, triggering the relaxation response. This helps to counteract the body's stress response, reducing levels of cortisol and promoting a sense of calm and well-being.

Improved Oxygenation: Nose breathing allows for better oxygen absorption in the lungs compared to mouth breathing. By breathing through the nose, air is filtered, humidified, and warmed before reaching the lungs, optimizing oxygen exchange and supporting overall respiratory function.

Enhanced Mental Clarity: Mindful diaphragmatic breathing promotes greater mental clarity and focus by increasing oxygen delivery to the brain. This can improve cognitive function, concentration, and memory, helping individuals feel more alert and present in their daily activities.

Optimized Posture and Core Activation: Diaphragmatic breathing engages the diaphragm muscle, which acts as the primary muscle of respiration. This promotes proper posture and spinal alignment, while also activating the core muscles, leading to improved stability and balance throughout the body.

Strengthened Respiratory System: Consistent practice of diaphragmatic nose breathing strengthens the respiratory muscles, including the diaphragm and intercostal muscles. This can enhance lung capacity, respiratory efficiency, and endurance, supporting overall respiratory health and vitality.
